Karl May – OpVista

Karl May has 20 years of experience as a high technology entrepreneur and executive. He joins OpVista from CHIPS and Systems, developer of programmable secure media processors for high definition televisions and set-top boxes. Previously, he served as Chairman and CEO of AP Engines, The industree (BarcoNet), and President and CEO of Convergent Networks. He served as president of Nortel’s Broadband Access Networks Division, and previously was Bay Network’s VP/GM of its Broadband Technology Division, where his team developed the market leading cable modem system. He also served in executive and engineering management positions at SGI and H-P.

Winston Way – OpVista

Dr. Way is a Fellow of both IEEE and OSA. He is a 20-year veteran in the R&D field of optical fiber communication systems and networks. He is the author of a reference book and over 100 journal and conference publications. He pioneered sub-carrier multiplexed lightwave system technology research while he was at Bellcore from 1984 to 1992, and has been a Professor at National Chiao-Tung University since 1992. Dr. Way received his B.S. from the National Chiao-Tung University, Taiwan, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He founded OpVista Inc. in September 2000.

Milton Chang – Incubic

Mr. Chang founded Incubic to institutionalize his approach for investing which has yielded an exceptional investment track record — he has provided the first capital to nearly 20 successful companies. As a CEO, Mr. Chang has personally built two businesses from the inception to successful IPO. A few of Mr. Chang’s successes include Newport Corporation, which he took public as its CEO in 1971, Uniphase (later JDS-Uniphase), where he provided the original seed capital and was on its Board of Directors, and New Focus (recently acquired by Bookham), which he founded in 1990 and took public in 2000.

Carl Amdahl – General Partner at DCM

Carl Amdahl is technology partner at DCM, where he assists portfolio companies in developing product strategies and in building technology partnerships. Carl also leads DCM’s technical advisory board. With over 25 years of experience as a senior executive in the IT industry, he possesses a broad technical background encompassing systems architecture, networking, semiconductors and software. Carl was a founder of 3 publicly traded companies and has participated in raising over $300 million in private and public funding. He currently serves on the board of numerous entrepreneurial technology companies.

David Britts – Partner, Velocity Interactive Group

David has extensive experience advising, building and investing in leading communications and digital media companies, an increasing number of whom have significant operations and markets in China. David is a founding partner of Velocity Interactive Group and served as a General Partner of ComVentures prior to the merger. Before joining ComVentures, he worked at JPMorgan Partners, where he was a General Partner and the global head of the firm’s communications, semiconductors and storage technology venture investment group. Before that, David was a member of the founding team of Deutsche Morgan Grenfell (DMG) Technology Group, which later became Credit Suisse First Boston. There, he established the global communications equipment practice, advising and investing in numerous high growth companies.

David holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a member of the Silicon Valley Telecom Council and participates on the Infotech Advisory Board, a leading venture capital firm and a strategic partner of Velocity Interactive Group in China.
