PrimaCom Deploys OpVista's Optical Transport System to Expand Network Capacity for Bandwidth-Intensive Services
Mainz, Germany and Milpitas, CA, April 29, 2008 — OpVista, Inc., a leading manufacturer of metro and regional optical transport solutions and the cable network provider PrimaCom today announced that PrimaCom AG has deployed a DWDM metro optical network in Saxonia, Germany based on the OpVista2000 Optical Transport System. An additional metro optical network, also based on the OpVista2000, will be installed in Thuringia by the end of May 2008.PrimaCom selected the OpVista2000 Optical Transport System for its innovative architecture optimized for digital video transport, as well as its patented Microwave Photonics technology for high bandwidth services on existing optical networks with incremental capacity expansion on a wavelength-by-wavelength basis.
The OpVista2000's widely-deployed Microwave Photonics technology uses densely-packed multiple optical carriers for the highest capacity on existing networks without costly re-engineering. With Microwave Photonics technology, OpVista2000 can deliver deployment cost savings of up to 50% compared to conventional DWDM equipment
